Love of Lesbians Tomavistas 2025

Love of Lesbian concert at Tomavistas

Love of Lesbian will take the stage at Tomavistas 2025, delivering a career-spanning set that celebrates nearly 30 years of music, while also presenting their latest album, “Ejército de Salvación” (2024). This will be their only festival appearance in Madrid in 2025 and the first time the city gets to experience the new album live.

Throughout their nearly 30-year career, Love of Lesbian has experienced many things in their steadfast path of searching, songs, collective imagination, incessant effort, and well-deserved recognition.

Love of Lesbian’s career began in the autumn of 1997, initially formed by Santi Balmes, Jordi Roig, Joan Ramon Planell, and Oriol Bonet. Later, Julián Saldarriaga and Dani Ferrer joined, with Ricky Falkner replacing Planell in 2017, after being the producer of many of their albums..

Their career is a path through the logic of encounters and disagreements with the audience and the media. Their early years (1997–2004) saw them singing in English, securing a solid position in the indie scene of the time—even landing the opening slot for The Cure’s Dream Tour in 2000.

However, it was when they switched to Spanish that their breakthrough truly happened. Their first Spanish-language album, “Maniobras de Escapismo (2005)”, was followed by “Cuentos Chinos para Niños del Japón (2007)”, which was named Best Spanish Album of the Year by Mondo Sonoro. And then came the defining moment: the release of “1999 (o cómo generar incendios de nieve con una lupa enfocando la Luna)” (2009). Songs like “Allí Donde Solíamos Gritar” became instant anthems and changed forever the course of their career.

From that point on, they kept evolving without missing a beat, releasing albums that expanded their reach and devoted following: “La Noche Eterna. Los Días Vividos” (2012), “El Poeta Halley” (2016), “V.E.H.N. (Viaje Épico Hacia la Nada)” (2021). With each release came bigger tours, packed venues, and massive festival crowds—securing their place as one of Spain’s most influential bands of the last three decades, with a growing impact in Latin America as well.

Their 10th album, “Ejército de Salvación” (2024), is exactly the kind of defining record that marks a new chapter in their story. The album features high-profile collaborations with Zahara, Rigoberta Bandini, Amaral, Leiva, and Jorge Drexler, and serves as a celebration of unity, music, and self-fulfillment.

And that’s exactly what their performance at Tomavistas 2025 will be: a toast to a band that took its time to step onto our stage—but was always meant to be here. It was written in the stars and now the moment has come.
