Yard Act Tomavistas Live

31st May, 2025

Tomavistas will be Yard Act’s only stop in Spain in 2025, where they’ll present one of the most acclaimed albums of the 2024 crop: “Where’s My Utopia?”. Expect a full-blown set of high-energy bangers headed straight for the dancefloor — think disco-post-punk party (and more).

The Leeds-based four-piece have become one of indie’s biggest breakout stories of the decade. Their debut album, The Overload (2022), shot straight to No. 2 on the UK charts, narrowly missing the top spot after a hilariously tight battle with Years & Years. Since then, James Smith, Ryan Needham, Sam Shjipstone and Jay Russell have toured relentlessly, playing festivals from Tokyo to Texas and racking up milestones week after week.

In early 2022, Yard Act landed on the BBC’s Sound of… shortlist and six months later, The Overload was nominated for the Mercury Prize. They’ve appeared on the covers of NME and DIY, made their US TV debut on Jimmy Fallon, and sold out tour after tour. BBC 6 Music legend Steve Lamacq named their album of the year, and in July 2022, Elton John joined them for a string-laced version of their closing track 100% Endurance.

In 2024, they released Where’s My Utopia?, once again hailed by the press — but this time taking a bold leap away from post-punk territory. With hints of Fela Kuti (Blackpool Illuminations), EPMD and Ultramagnetic MCs (Down By The Stream), Lauryn Hill, Ennio Morricone (An Illusion), and even the 2000s pop classic Groovejet by Spiller (Dream Job) — it’s an eclectic, genre-bending ride. The sonic diversity owes much to Remi Kabaka Jr. of Gorillaz, who handled production duties.

If their debut had them labelled as post-punk, this follow-up blasts through that box entirely — much like peers IDLES or Fontaines D.C., Yard Act are determined to evolve and transcend at lightning speed.

Don’t miss their only Spanish show of 2025 at Tomavistas.
