Menta Tomavistas Concert

Menta will be at Tomavistas with their only concert in Madrid in 2023 presenting their recent debut album “Un Momento Extraño”.

Convulsions caused by Covid-19 generalized a trend that was already on the rise: musical solo projects, those created in bedrooms with all the possibilities facilitated by cheaper technology, had killed the bands that got together to play in a rehearsal studio. Menta, however, is a band that emerged in the midst of a pandemic. Meji (vocals), Nico Rubio and Rodrigo Godoy (guitars), Lucas Sierra (bass), Grego Scopa (keyboard) and Pedro del Pozo (drums) released their first EP in June 2020 and it caused an immediate surprise.

A surprise that won us over and made us booked them for our first Tomavistas Extra to open for Carolina Durante. That day by the end of that catatonic 2021 they played their first ever concert as a band.

Since that date they had been somehow quiet, but it was because they were preparing their war cry and their comeback that has come as an album titled “Un Momento Extraño”. Since its release in October 2022, it has received great reviews, including those from prestigious media such as Mondosonoro or Rockdelux, remarking that it is a wonderful collection of songs of boredom and rebellion as a beacon to follow for a generation that feels cheated and manipulated.

And what makes the most difference are those texts in Meji’s voice, an absolutely unique singer who overflows with charisma. It may be surprising that she comes from flamenco, since her register,  which is serious, hard and direct, seems closer to that of punk or urban rock. However, all the members of the band participate in the composition of those lyrics that are destined to open up new edges in our independent pop.
