Depresión Sonora Tomavistas Concert

Depresión Sonora will present his debut album, “El arte de morir muy despacio,” at Tomavistas in his only date at festivals in Madrid in 2023.

Depresión Sonora’s debut EP was released during the lockdown in 2020 and was one of the very few good news that the Covid crisis left us. It was made up of a handful of songs that were the result of the claustrophobic situation of the moment, in which a young boy expressed his desire to live as well as his frustration at the situation he had to face in those days.

After releasing a couple of EPs and different singles and collaborations, we began to get to know Marcos Crespo: a sensitive guy from Madrid’s neighborhood Vallecas with low tolerance for frustration; a young boy with his demons, like everyone else. Perhaps that explains why his songs have contributed decisively to decoding the zeitgeist of a generation that is tired, anxious and pushed with no alternative to hyper-productivism. “El arte de morir muy despacio” can be understood as the nihilistic and sarcastic reverse of those self-help manuals to which Marcos and those his age have been overexposed.

The universe of Depresión Sonora pushes its way between apocalyptic images of the suburbs and a fatalistic and decidedly youthful romanticism. A project underpinned by a sound with a lo-fi vocation dominated by leathery drum machines and bass lines that could come from Peter Hook himself.

After the spontaneous success of Depresión Sonora in Mexico, the sold out show of most of his concerts in Madrid (a visit to Tomavistas Extra 2022 included) and his appearance on the Best-of-2022 lists, such as the ones of Rockdelux or Mondosonoro, this year we will have the pleasure of enjoying this project again at its best. Now at Tomavistas in its festival version. Get ready for it.

They will also be at Tomavistas Festival 2023…
