Tomavistas Festival 2024
Hurray For The Riff Raff

Hurray For The riff Raff concert
Hurray For The Riff Raff will release her new album in January 2024 and will present it at Tomavistas with a unique and exclusive concert in Spain.
Hurray For The Riff Raff is Alynda Segarra’s project. Alynda was born and raised in the Bronx, a neighborhood she left when she was seventeen, running away from everything and hopping on freight trains or hitchhiking across the country in the company of a band of homeless people. Segarra moved to New Orleans in 2007 and formed two bands: Dead Man’s Street Orchestra and Hurray For The Riff Raff. With the latter, she published four albums with a wide range of songs with folk roots.
In 2015, Segarra moved to Nashville and then to New York to record her last album, “The Navigator”, published in 2017, a conceptual work in which she defended her Puerto Rican identity and that obtained great reviews and media impact with very high ratings in publications like Pitchfork. In our country it led her to enter the lists of the best of that year reaching the position number 11 of Mondo Sonoro’s list or becoming the cover of Ruta 66 magazine in April 2018.
In 2022 she released her 8th album “LIFE ON EARTH”. We could say that it was her most accelerated and enjoyable album, debuting on the prestigious Nonesuch record label. As it happened with “Navigator”, it was once again acclaimed by the press and was once again on the lists of the best music of that year. She should have presented it at Tomavistas, but her plans changed and we could not enjoy her live show that year.
In 2024 she will release her 9th album titled “The Past is still Alive,” from which she has already released her first single “Alibi”. In this track she returns to the paths of Americana and the most enjoyable folk rock, two paths she walks through during most part of this album.
