Yawners is the band of guitarist and composer Elena Nieto, a project based in Madrid and currently a duo composed by drummer Martín Muñoz. Shortly after starting Yawners, Nieto begins to self-edit her first songs and to program her own tours with a clear DIY philosophy. “Just Calm Down”, her debut album, is published this 2019 by La Castanya. On the album, she explores the most pop and blunt sounds of the 90s, allowing herself to be influenced by classics like Weezer, Pavement or The Breeders as well as contemporaries such as Japandroids, Snail Mail or Waxahatchee.

Great riffs, great feelings, great songs, fists in the air driven by hope, love and occasional acne. Elena Nieto sings with a confidence that manages to speak to shyness, to evasion, and to the terrifying joy that invades us with the most overwhelming novelties. This album contains all the idyllic nervousness you feel before a first date and the excitement, hope, and excitement of knowing that maybe you get a second one.
