An American singer-songwriter who used to play acoustic folk, a Catalan multi-instrumentalist fan of Prince and a rock drummer from Venezuela slide right in an app to flirt and, suddenly, they are playing in a band. This is the story of Side Chick, a trio of high energy garage glam composed of Maïa Vidal (American indie pop artist recognized throughout Europe), Eduardo Benatar (Venezuelan drummer member of the band Luz Verde, nominated for Latin Grammy in 2014) and Scarlett (a young composer and producer from Barcelona).
Despite the differences in age, nationality and musical journey, the sound chemistry of Side Chick is unquestionable. Pulsating basses, powerful guitars and bittersweet keyboards merge with voices whose harmonies move between seduction, the angelic and the upset, while the drums reverberate always danceable rhythms. With their contagious sound and tremendous attitude on stage, Side Chick represents the glitter of the 80s and the irreverence of the 90s. And they make them their own in a tremendous exercise of pop wisdom.
A few weeks ago they published their self-titled debut album that is receiving great reviews and they are currently presenting it live with irresistible energy. This is precisely what we could see during their show at the last Monkey Week, on the Tomavistas stage that we had at the Sevillian fesival, and thus we were enchanted by such talent. Therefore, they could not miss our appointment in May.
