Kevin Barnes formed of Montreal in Athens, Georgia (US) in 1997. Since then he has published nothing more and nothing less than 17 albums, leaving a trail of tracks with a very personal signature with imprint on psychedelia and certain doses of avant-garde. It must not be forgotten that he was one of the greatest exponents of the Elephant Six collective where The Apples in Stereo, Neutral Milk Hotel or The Olivia Tremor Control were too. That is why he has always acted and generated very original concepts aimed at a very heterogeneous audience.
“Ur Fun” has been just published and we are in luck because this album, created with the intention of being a collection of singles, offers some of his greatest successes such as the song that opens the album titled “Peace To All Freaks” or the first single that take you straight to the dance floor that is “Polyaneurism”. The album transpires a certain dose of criticism of how things are in the United States, as the song “Don’t Let me Die In America” shows. “Ur Fun” is a collection of 80s Synth pop sounds, electro-pop, glam and psychedelic vibrations. Portrait of a concept that fits quite well with his well-known classic singles such as “Gronlandic Edit”, “Lysergic Bliss”, “Wraith Pinned to the Mist and Other Games” or “It’s Different for Girls” that will turn his live performances into a celebration of life as a journey with high festive content.
Last time of Montreal played in Madrid was 2017, so we are really looking forward to enjoy in Tomavistas his extravagant, addictive and colorful proposal.
