Tomavistas Festival 2024
La Luz
La Luz concert
La Luz are playing Tomavistas presenting for the very first time in our country their upcoming brand new album that will be released in 2024. Besides, their long-awaited concert in Madrid will be the perfect occasion to discover the extensive career they have.
La Luz are Shana Cleveland (guitar, vocals), Alice Sandahl (keys, vocals), and Lena Simon (bass, vocals) and this trio from California are expert on creating one-in-a-kind songs, a music both atmospheric and driving, golden-hued yet weirdly morbid. Their songs interpolate everything from surf rock legends Dick Dale, Link Wray, and Takeshi Teracuchi to the airtight harmonies of the Ronettes and the funhouse organ crescendos of the B-52’s. When combined, these influences evoke the sight of a vast and glorious UFO overhead, as the beguiling music of La Luz pulls you in like a tractor beam. Everything can happen when listening to them.
La Luz (Spanish for “the light”) have been illuminating the alternative music scene since 2013 when they released their acclaimed first full-length “It’s Alive”. This album was followed by a second work titled “Weirdo Shrine” with Ty Segall serving as producer and engineer. The trio kept touring making their name bigger during those years until 2018 when they came back to California to record “Floating Features”, their third and most polished and ambitious album to date and produce by Dan Auerbach of The Black Keys.
They should have been at Tomavistas 2022 presenting their fourth album, “La Luz,” published in 2021, but due to personal issues they could not be with us. This is why we were still waiting to meet them and it will be in 2024 when we will be able to enjoy them with a brilliant new album (based on what we have already been able to listen to) that they will publish before the festival.
